Financial Aid FAQ

There are two different types of federal financial aid available, grants and loans. Grants are funds given out on an at-need basis and it is not required for you to pay them back. Loans are borrowed funds that you must repay with interest.

Your financial aid package will be based on your eligibility and need. The first step toward determining these factors is to complete your online FAFSA application.

You can complete your online application at studentaid.ed.gov/sa/fafsa, using our CIAT school code: 042598.

There are three steps in the FASFA process. Get step-by-step help through the FAFSA process by working with our expert financial aid team.

You must sign your Master Promissory Note (MPN) and Entrance Counseling (EC) before you can receive any student loans. Student loan funds typically post to your school account within the first two weeks of the first day of the term.

Our school/institution code is 042598.

After submitting your online application for enrollment, you will be assigned a personal Admissions Advisor and Financial Aid Administrator to guide you through each step of the process. We will guide you through identifying which financial aid option is right for you, how to apply for aid, completing your required documentation package, and more. .

MPN stands for Master Promissory Note. This is a legal document that promises you will repay your loan(s) and any interest and fees to the US Department of Education. It also explains the terms and conditions of your loan(s).

Refunds are issued when there is a credit balance to a student’s account. Upon receipt of any type of financial aid (military education benefits, scholarships, loans, grants, etc.), the funds are first posted against any balance owed. When a credit balance is created, a refund may be issued at that time.
